3 Radiant Sunflowers Card Ideas — Hot Foil, a Fun Fold Gift Card Holder & an Easy DSP Card

Sunflowers aren’t just for summer! 🌻🍂

I used the Radiant Sunflowers Bundle and Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper for all three cards, but gave each one something a little different.

We created a beautiful gold hot foil background with the Buffalo Check Hot Foil Die, made a fun fold card that doubles as a gift card holder, and finished with an easy card layout that let the Designer Series Paper do most of the work.

If hot foiling is new to you, you can see the whole process — from heating the system and adding the die and foil to running everything through the die-cutting machine.

Card #1 — Buffalo Check Hot Foil Sunflower Card

For this card, I wanted to add a little unexpected shine behind those beautiful fall sunflowers.

I used the Buffalo Check Hot Foil Die with gold foil on Daffodil Delight cardstock to create the background. The gold Buffalo Check added so much interest without competing with the sunflower focal point.

It’s one of those little WOWs that makes someone wonder, “How did you do that?” — but once you see the process, you’ll realize it’s very doable.

I also used Autumn Woodland Glimmer Paper with the Home for Christmas scalloped edge die to add another touch of sparkle and shine to those gorgeous shades of fall.

Card #2 — A Fun Fold That’s Also a Gift Card Holder

Who doesn’t love a card with a surprise inside? 😉

For our second Radiant Sunflowers project, I made a fun fold gift card holder.

At first glance, it’s a pretty sunflower card. But open it up and there’s a spot tucked inside for a gift card!

I love projects like this because you’re still making a handmade card, but you’ve also turned it into a gift.

Change the greeting and you could use this same fun fold for birthdays, thank-yous, fall celebrations or just about any occasion when you’d like to tuck in a little something extra.

And once you know how the fold works, it’s a layout you can use again and again with the papers and stamps you already own.

Card #3 — Let That Beautiful DSP Do the Work!

Sometimes the Designer Series Paper is just too pretty to cover up.

That’s when I say: let the paper do the work!

For our third card, I used an easy layout that really showed off the Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper.

It was a great example of how you don’t need a complicated technique or lots of layers to make a beautiful handmade card.

We started with that gorgeous patterned paper, added a few well-placed details and a greeting, and ended up with a card that looked special without taking all afternoon to make.

That’s my kind of cardmaking. 😊

It’s also a great layout to keep in your back pocket because you can use the same basic design with completely different Designer Series Papers for different seasons and occasions.
