Hello Card: Simple Watercolor Technique with Glass Block + Beautiful Butterflies Bundle

Today’s card is a bright and cheerful Hello card—perfect for beginners who want to try something fun and artsy without needing a ton of tools. It’s one of four projects from my latest beginner series:
“What Do I Do With All These Supplies?!” – Part 2 in my Cardmaking 101 series.

This design uses the Beautiful Butterflies Bundle and focuses on simple techniques that add beautiful depth and texture—perfect for anyone just getting started!

✨ Technique Spotlight: Watercolor Background with a Glass Block

You don’t need special watercolor paper or paint—just a regular acrylic stamping block, some ink, and water!

Here’s how to do it:

Choose any size glass (acrylic) block.
Ink it up with your favorite water-based ink (I used Lemon Lime Twist).
Lightly spritz the block with water.
Stamp directly onto your cardstock.
Let it air dry or use a heat tool to speed it up.

This creates a beautiful, organic wash of color that’s perfect behind any focal image.

🦋 Let’s Talk Butterflies…

Once the background was dry, I stamped one of the butterflies from the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set. Then I added detail and dimension using:

Watercolor pencils
Blender Pens
A touch of Wink of Stella for shimmer

To finish off the card, I added a fun twist to the layout by cutting the card base to show both sides of the Beautiful Bokeh Designer Series Paper—it adds so much personality! Two sparkly butterflies cut from Ombre Glimmer Paper were the perfect final touch.
